Following Tuesday night's bench clearing brawl between the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees, Major League Baseball gave penalties to the 2 core figures - Jorge Posada and Jesse Carlson. For their role in Tuesday night's fracas, Posada and Carlson both got four-game suspensions. Their suspensions had been reduced to 3 games because neither Posada nor Carlson fought the suspension.

If someone might make clear to me how the MLB came up with four games for both of them, I'd really appreciate it.

When it comes to the number of games a competitor gets for his misdealings, it is any person's guess. It seems to me there are no set rules for penalties. That is a big issue in my eyes.

How did Youkilis and Porcello get five games for provoking a dugout-clearing brawl, however Posada and Carlson only received 3 games? What did Youkilis and Porcello do differently that their clash led to two additional games?

In my mind, a bench-clearing fight is a dugout-clearing fight. They're similar to coincidences; there are no levels.

How does Beckett receive a six-game suspension for pitching at someone's head, however Zambrano gets the same game suspension for roughing up a water cooler? I didn't understand possibly ruining someone's career might be just as dangerous as roughing up an inanimate object.

This is not a Red Sox-Yankee dilemma - this is a reasonable issue. I feel like I am taking crazy pills even discussing something like this. If you do A, you receive B. It's as easy as that.

The MLB - and I mean you Bob Watson - needs to draw up a standard penalty for each breach.

At the moment, it just does not make a single bit of sense.

I like wearing baseball caps, and I need a new one, but the ones at Target are stupid looking. I like the stretch fit ones, or the ones that are fitted to my size head. I want to be able to wear the hat backwards or forward. I need your suggestions.

I realize the July 31 deadline is for players to be eligible for the post season. I just don't know why MLB needs such a deadline and why it's July 31 rather than earlier or later in the year.
