The New York Mets probably still have a horrible taste in their mouth from the 2009 season. Disappointing is the nice version of what the fans were saying about that debacle of a season. Now that 2010 is just around the corner, the team and the fans can get back to business and look to show the world that they are still one of the favorites to take the division crown.

It is very likely that everyone will have the Mets, Phillies and Atlanta very close in the National League East. This will be a hotly contested division and if the Mets are playing solid baseball, they have every reason to believe that the division will be theirs. The fans are going to be treated to some incredible baseball games this summer.

The Phillies stole a lot of headlines this summer with their blockbuster trade. While the Mets did not make moves like that, they did shore up some weaknesses to pad what is a very good team at the core. Santana is the star of the rotation and gives this team a huge chance to win when he is on the mound. He will go deep into every game and put them in a position to win if the offense can score just a few runs.

After Santana takes his turn, young Fernando Nieve will get the ball and could be a future star in this league. He has only had limited action in his career, but when he has played, he had looked like an absolute horse. There will be every opportunity for him to win at least 15 games this season with the spot he has in this rotation.

David Wright continues to be the big draw for this team and you pretty much know what you are going to get from him every season. His home runs dipped last season for the first time ever, but he surely worked on getting the power back in his stroke during the off-season. He is the best pure hitter on the team and the offense will live and die with him.

No team in the East has the schedules opportunity that New York does right from the outset. They play all but a handful of their games at home and will not have a real test until they hit the road at the end of the month to play Philadelphia. This can lead to a start that they can build on for the entire season.

The Mets have to be hoping that their faithful will stand by them in the new season. If they can get that ballpark filled and produce in the first month, they can jump out to a quick lead and be in the drivers’ seat all season long. By the time they see Philly on the last day of the month, they could be the leaders of the National League East.

If it isn’t too bad, you may be able to play.Be aware that more physical exercise sometimes makes it worse…as you get older and IF you get fat..it will hurt more, too.So, it just depends on your level of pain tolerance.Some days my knees are so bad , they can be heard popping every time I move…other days , they seem fine.
